Tuberculosis (TB) is a reportable disease. Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit must be notified so appropriate case and contact follow-up is done. TB never really went away. We controlled it, cured it, and prevented its spread, but we have never destroyed it. It is still prevalent in many countries outside of North America. The greatest risk in Haldimand-Norfolk for developing tuberculosis is having lived in, or travelled to countries where TB is common. For more information call a member of Communicable Disease Services at 519-426-6170, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
